The Hungarian Cultural Center, New York, presents
Hungarian Folkdance and Folk Music from Slovakia and Transylvania
Ifjú Szivek (“Young Hearts”)
Professional Folk Ensemble of the Hungarian Minorities from Bratislava
[Pozsony]
The Ifjú Szivek ]”Young Hearts”] Folk Ensemble of the Hungarian minorities
from Slovakia presents a wonderful folklore never seen in North America
previously. The wonderful Verbunk and Csárdás dances from the Northern
Territories of the Hungarian ethnographic region, called “Felvidék”, may be
the most beautiful in the Carpathian Basin. The Ensemble accompanied by its
own folk music band will present an authentic and enjoyable array of
folklore.
The Ifjú Szivek was formed in 1955 and has been dedicated to the collection
and preservation of the Hungarian folklore in the political borders of
Slovakia. They have toured in many European countries, and last year they
toured Australia. The 2003 tour will be their initial visit to North
America. The Ensemble also visits Hungary on regular basis and is a well
liked performing group.
